Digital platform aims to improve road safety, transport services

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — A digital platform designed to streamline transportation services, improve driver’s license processing, and strengthen road safety education is expected to be rolled out later this year as part of an initiative to modernize the country’s transport sector.

Road Safety I.T. Services Philippines, founded by tech entrepreneur, founder, chief executive officer, and road safety advocate Arjim Estrera Sagala, is developing a system that integrates online booking and ticketing, GPS tracking, fleet management, digital payment services, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence to support transportation operations.

Sagala said the initiative was developed after identifying gaps in the current driver’s licensing system, particularly at the driving school level.

Sagala said the platform aims to make licensing procedures more accessible through digitalization. The platform includes what the organization calls Road Safety Hubs, which partners with driving schools to promote road safety education among new drivers.

“All drivers start with the driving school. Without driving schools, there would be no drivers. We want drivers to be properly educated,” he said.

Sagala said the digital platform also seeks to address recurring concerns in the transport sector, including reports of overcharging, fraudulent driver’s license transactions, and the use of unauthorized drivers.

He said the system will include a database intended to verify driver information and improve accountability in public transportation.

Sagala also urged transport operators to adopt digital technologies to improve transparency and operational efficiency.

Aside from transportation services, the company is pursuing partnerships with government agencies, educational institutions, and private sector organizations to support digital transformation initiatives related to road safety and mobility.

The application, which was initially introduced in April, remains under licensing and is expected to become available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store following its planned grand launch in October in Iloilo City.

Sagala initially introduced the company and its services last Friday among transport officials and some heads of local government units in Cebu. The event was held in Consolacion town, Cebu.

According to the company, the platform is also being developed with features such as a digital wallet and cloud-based data management to support future integration with government services.

Sagala added that earnings of the company will eventually goes back to the community for various causes.

“The true measure of leadership is not the wealth we accumulate, but the lives we uplift, the opportunities we create, and the legacy we leave for our people and our nation,” Sagala said. — (FREEMAN)
