Police nab man over unlicensed firearm
CEBU, Philippines — A 21-year-old man was arrested after police recovered an unlicensed firearm and ammunition during a search warrant operation in sitio Mohon, Barangay Sapangdaku, Cebu City, at around 3:30 a.m. on Friday, July 31.
The suspect was identified as Justine Alicaway, also known as Justine Dave Zapanta Alicaway.
He is facing a complaint for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
According to the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), operatives recovered from the suspect a .38-caliber revolver without a serial number and three live rounds of .38-caliber ammunition during the implementation of the search warrant.
The operation was carried out by personnel of the City Intelligence Unit led by Police Captain Christopher Irwin Corvera Sanchez Jr. under the direct supervision of Police Lieutenant Colonel Eunil Balili Avergonzado.
Police served Search Warrant No. 0658-07-2926-17 issued by Judge Anacleto G. Debalucos during the operation.
Following his arrest, Alicaway was brought to the Cebu City Detention Facility, where he remains under temporary custody pending the filing of charges.
Authorities have yet to release additional details regarding the circumstances that led to the issuance of the search warrant.
