Island Cove aspires to be top adventure destination

MANILA, Philippines - Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park, the premiere business and leisure destination south of Metro Manila, is bullish this year in spite of the economic crunch.

In fact, it is poised to become the top adventure destination in the country, as it offers infinite possibilities and countless ways to spend the day for both the family and corporate markets.

“We believe that this year, even with the current economic conditions here and around the world, there will still be a considerable demand in our industry,” says Island Cove managing director Gilbert Remulla.

“The need to relax and get away from it all never ceases, especially now that our guests may be working extra hard to stave off the effects of the economic crisis. In that respect, since we offer limitless possibilities of fun and adventure for both the corporate and family needs, we are confident that we will get a lion’s share of the local market — and satisfy the lion’s share of our guests,” he adds.

Remulla reveals that Island Cove is undertaking considerable improvements in its current facilities and has plans of expansion in the near future.

He says, “We understand that unless we have something new to offer, the average guest may look for something new to keep interested. To that extent, we have made it a policy to continuously expand and improve our facilities in order to keep our clients satisfied.”

This year, Island Cove will launch more sports and recreational facilities in line with the Department of Tourism’s thrust of making the Philippines a premiere adventure spot.

For example, Island Cove will expand its Adventure Zone by adding a ropes course and biking trail where guests can test their endurance.

The resort will also expand and improve its other sports and recreation facilities by building badminton courts and upgrading its basketball court to make the latter more in line with the needs of today’s basketball players.

A video arcade where gamers can relax and enjoy today’s next-generation video game experience is also set to open in time for summer.

The Island Cove gym will be expanded, too, and a considerable investment will be made in additional equipment to accommodate all the health buffs who visit.

A sports membership club similar to country clubs will be launched, wherein members will be able to use the various sports and recreational facilities at Island Cove, join major sporting events and enjoy special privileges.

Major renovations will also be made at the Oceania Water Park such as the addition of fountains and improvement of the giant slides.

The facade of the facility outlet will also undergo a facelift. Sangley Express, the fastfood counterpart of Sangley Point Bar and Grill, will replace the Oceania Kiosk. The Sangley Express will serve meals to Oceania Water Park guests at affordable prices.

Renovations have also been made at the Sangley Point Bar and Gill. A new menu of mouth-watering international dishes will be offered.

Recently, Island Cove also launched the Tejeros Grand Ballroom with meeting rooms that are open for functions large and small.

In line with these renovations, Island Cove recently launched its new website, an interactive catalogue of the countless ways for guests to spend their stay at Island Cove.

The website has a special targeted viewing option for both the Frequent Individual Travelers (FITs) and corporate clients. It enables the users to have a personal Web browsing experience, viewing only the content that is relevant to them.

For example, if the client is an FIT, he or she can explore the Family view, which contains Island Cove’s facilities, accommodations, packages and events pertinent to FITs.

On the other hand, the corporate view contains all information on meetings, celebrations, events, and packages for company outings, conferences, team-building workshops or other activities.

Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park is ISO 9001:2000 certified and a triple “A” accredited resort by the Department of Tourism.

Located in the historic town of Kawit in Cavite, this 36-hectare Mediterranean-inspired island is only 45 minutes away from Metro Manila.
