Tolentino erupts for 27, Choco Mucho triumphs
MANILA, Philippines — On her return from a long absence, Choco Mucho star Kat Tolentino made sure everybody noticed.
She delivered a devastating 27-point masterpiece in a pulsating 27-29, 25-20, 25-19, 17-25, 15-12 victory by the Flying Titans over the upset-conscious Galeries Tower Highrisers yesterday in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Filoil EcoOil Arena.
“It’s good to be back in the team to help them, it’s nice to be back,” said Tolentino, who had 20 attacks and seven blocks.
It was the Flying Titans’ first win that somehow eased the pain of a stinging 25-20, 26-28, 25-1, 25-16 defeat to the Petro Gazz Angels in last Saturday’s opener.
While it was a great bounce back effort, Tolentino stressed there’s still a lot of room for improvement.
“I think we have a lot of things to work on. But this is just the beginning and we have so much more to give,” she said.
Sisi Rondina also played big as she scattered 19 hits including Choco Mucho’s last two points – a pair of howitzer-like kills – that sealed the deal.
Chery Nunag chipped in 14 points while Lorraine Pecana, a neophyte from Arellano U, contributed 10 hits.
