BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. had proposed for an additional P2 million in financial assistance for Marawi City residents and in the rehabilitation of the war-torn city.
Acting provincial administrator Lucille Gelvolea said the P2-million aid will still be subject for approval by the Provincial Board.
Two months ago, the provincial government also allocated P1 million as relief aid for the Marawi evacuees, which was deposited in the account of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 9.
The provincial government also launched thee Negros Cares campaign to help raise funds for Marawi rehabilitation, after a brief meeting between Marañon and President Rodrigo Duterte during the latter's visit last month in Bacolod City.
