Renewal of business permits deadline extended to Feb. 15

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Tacloban City Council, during its 110th regular session this week, unanimously approved an ordinance extending the deadline for payment of local taxes, fees and other charges without surcharges and penalties from January 20 to February 15.

This after the City Council got an information from the Office of the City Treasurer that, as of last January 19, there were only 2,116 (or 14.50 percent) out of 14,550 business establishments that had paid their business licenses and permit fees.

The extension of the deadline would be to accommodate the remaining 12,434 (or 85.5 percent) businesses to comply with the obligations, said Councilor Jerry Uy, adding that the Council also wanted suggestions from taxpayers on how to improve the present system.  (FREEMAN)
