DUMAGUETE CITY , Philippines— The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office had conducted a two-day Police Correspondents training to improve the reporting skills of policemen in the field and provide information "real time" to the public.
The training, dubbed as "Pulis Corres," reeled off Thursday at the NOrPPO headquarters at Camp Fernandez in Sibulan town, about 15-minute drive north of this capital city, and ended yesterday afternoon.
Senior Superintendent Dionardo Carlos, officer-in-charge director of NOrPPO, opened the training, which was attended by 60 policemen from the different police units in the province.
Carlos said the "Pulis Corres" training was intended to have police reporters in the field so that the people will be informed of the latest incidents in the different cities and municipalities in Negros Oriental.
The reports will be relayed through partner radio stations, giving the listeners the freshest news or updates on public safety issues and concerns, Carlos said.
There will be two "police patrollers" per city or municipality to be trained as a police correspondent, he added.
Members of the local media have been invited as guest lecturers to speak on broadcast reporting and basic news writing, among others. — Judy Flores Partlow (FREEMAN)
