TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines  — A total of P1.173 billion fund has been allocated to finance 95 infrastructure projects in the second district of Leyte province for this year.

Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico Petilla told reporters in an interview at his office that the projects will benefit 14 towns in the district, which were battered by super typhoon Yolanda on November 8, 2013.

Petilla said the bidding for these projects had already been conducted, 45 percent of which were already obligated, while the rest are now on the stage of implementation.

Most of these projects involved road network to hasten the economic recovery of Leyte, said the governor, adding that P134 million of the total outlay has been earmarked for multi-purpose buildings, health facilities and school buildings.

The implementation of the projects was shared by the 2nd Leyte Engineering District, which got more than P600 million of the fund.

The Department of Public Works and Highways-Region 8 office, based in Palo town of Leyte, was given more than P500-million worth of projects for implementation.  (FREEMAN)
