Fleeing drug suspect hurts 2
CEBU, Philippines – Two motorcycle riders were wounded after they were sideswept by a car driven by a fleeing suspected drug pusher at Barangay Sta. Filomena in Arevalo district of Iloilo City.
The victims were identified as the driver Agapito Alfar, 41, of Sto. Domingo in Arevalo, and his backrider, Narciso Rabada, 70, of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
Alfar suffered hematoma, multiple abrasions, and lacerated wounds on his body while Rabada sustained multiple lacerated wound and had his left foot fractured.
Police investigation showed the incident happened at around 12:30 a.m. Saturday when Eugene Rivas, 42, of Barangay East Baluarte in Molo district, attempted to flee from a buy bust operation by the Arevalo Police.
When policemen blocked Rivas, who was driving a Daewoo sedan (GKU-961) owned by a certain Ferdinand Tan, quickly put the car on reverse but this hit the motorcycle of Alfar and Rabada, and a parked car (FBF-430).
Pursuing policemen subsequently arrested Rivas and detained him at the lockup cell. He will be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and reckless imprudence resulting to multiple serious physical injuries and damage to property. Police also found out that Rivas was driving with an expired driver’s license.
