Fire hits 9 houses in Iloilo City

CEBU, Philippines - A fire Wednesday afternoon razed nine houses at Barangay Tabuc Suba in La Paz district of Iloilo City.

According to Fire Officer 3 Rolen Hormina of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Iloilo City, eight of the 9 houses were totally burned while one was partially affected, and that two vehicles parked in the scene were also burned.

Hormina said the alarm was received at 4 p.m. and firefighters put the blaze under control 23 minutes later and declared a fireout at 5:23 p.m. He said damage to property was estimated at P4 million.

Investigators were yet determining the cause of the fire, although initial findings pointed to an electrical short circuit to have possibly triggered the conflagration.  (FREEMAN)
