Cirunay is new 801st IBde head

CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines — The Philippine Army’s 8th Infantry Division has installed a new commander for the 801st Infantry Brigade, based in Barangay Fatima of Hinabangan town in Samar.

The new commander is Colonel Leoncio Cirunay Jr., replacing Brigadier General Wilson Leyva who was on compulsory retirement from the military service.

Major General Jet Velarmino, commander of the 8th ID, who administered the change-of-command ceremony at the 801st IBde headquarters, said Cirunay, before assuming this post, was the deputy commander of the 202nd IBde of the 2nd ID in Lumban, Laguna.   (FREEMAN)
