CEBU, Philippines - After weeks of tension and confusion in the Capitol, the DILG and the Comelec serve the order ousting disqualified governor Exequiel Javier from office and, last February 3, installing Vice Governor Rhodora Cadiao as the new governor of Antique.

Cadiao, of the United Nationalist Alliance, replaced Javier of the Liberal Party who was disqualified due to his decision to suspend Valderrama town Mayor Mary Joyce Roquero in January 2013, within the election period, in violation of the Omnibus Election Code, according to a report in rappler.com

Provincial Board Member Edgar Denosta, an ally of Javier, took over as vice governor. With Javier not around, DILG and Comelec representatives posted a copy of the writ of execution at the governor's office, effecting the ouster of Javier from his post.

Cadiao said in a text mesage that DILG-6 director Anthony Nuyda personally delivered the writ of execution at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to DILG-6 legal officer Cedrick Jaranilla, Comelec-6 assistant director Tomas Valera and Antique provincial election supervisor Roberto Salazar accompanied Nuyda in serving the order.

Cadiao had taken her oath of office earlier on January 29, to prevent a "vacuum of leadership" when the writ of execution issued by the Comelec "lapsed after 5 days." But at the time of her oath, the DILG said Javier was still the governor, as the order has yet to be implemented.

The Comelec issued the writ on January 23 ordering Javier to "cease and desist" from functioning as governor following his disqualification and the annulment of his proclamation. — From the wires
