Visayas journalists join US Embassy seminar for media

CEBU, Philippines -  The Freeman's regional correspondent Mary Judaline (Judy) Flores Partlow of Dumaguete City joins 20 other media practitioners from Cebu, Bohol, Iloilo, Samar, Palawan, Davao and Batangas in the 3rd Seminar for Regional Media, conducted by the Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy in Manila from September 15 to16.

Partlow, also of the Philippine News Agency-Dumaguete Bureau, with Dumaguete freelance writer Celia Acedo, was invited to participate in the seminar, which will focus on US-Philippines partnerships in environment conservation and protection.

According to Yolanda de Guzman of the Embassy's PAS, expert resource persons were invited to speak on the environment, science and technology and law enforcement.

Philip S. Goldberg, US Ambassador to the Philippines, will deliver the welcome remarks at the opening of the seminar on Monday, she said.

Participants will have a chance to hear from experts from the scientific community and non-government organizations as well as representatives from the US Agency for International Development, the US Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service, the Economic Section of the US  Embassy and the US Department of Justice International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance.  — Contributed article (FREEMAN)
