10-hour blackout hits Iloilo, Capiz

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Residents of several towns in Iloilo and Capiz suffered from a 10-hour power blackout after heavy rains destroyed two towers of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines early Wednesday morning, said the ABS-CBNnews.com report.

According to NGCP, two of its towers in Pontevedra town of Capiz were toppled by heavy winds and rains at around 2 a.m.

NGCP, however, said power supply in some parts of northern Iloilo was restored by Wednesday afternoon, although the towns of Banate, Barotac Viejo, Anilao and San Rafael are still affected by the outage.

Meanwhile, the Iloilo Electric Cooperative III said it will do its best to restore power supply in these towns after a circuit breaker in a substation was damaged. — From the wires
