Oil price monitoring continues

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Even if the oil price disparity has narrowed down, Negrenses should not let their guards down, according to Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, who said the Visayan Oil Price Watchdog should continue to function and to be vigilant.

Lacson opined that the reason why the fuel price disparity between the province and in other areas had been addressed because “our voices were heard.”

Earlier, 3rd district Representative Albee Benitez noted that the entry of more gas stations and players in the city and the province was the reason why the oil price gap has narrowed.

Benitez created an oil price watchdog, saying it was a good deterrent in fuel disparity and price manipulation.

Frank Carbon, president of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the oil price watchdog is “still relevant” despite this development. (FREEMAN)
