Habagat affects 170 families in Negros Occ

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Strong winds and heavy rains brought about by habagat (southwest monsoon) have caused damages to at least 661 people or 170 families in three towns in Negros Occidental.

Records at the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) showed that 30 houses were destroyed while 133 others were damaged.

Sixteen of these were destroyed and 43 others were damaged in Valladolid town where 59 families or 236 persons were affected in eight barangays.

In Pulupandan town, 11 houses were destroyed and 73 damaged, affecting 96 families or 367 persons in 10 barangays.

In Pontevedra town, three houses were destroyed while 17 were damaged. A total of 20 families or 76 people were affected in six barangays. (FREEMAN)
