TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines — Bohol Governor Edgar Chatto the other day was sworn in as the new chairman of the Regional Development Council-Reg. 7, while Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III took his oath as the new chairman of the Regional Peace and Order Council-7.

The swearing in of the two new officials, held in this city during the joint meeting of the regional bodies, was administered by Socio-Economic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balicasan.

Chatto took over the RDC-7 post, succeeding Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, while Davide replaced Chatto as head of the RPOC-7 chairman.

Both Chatto and Davide thanked the members of the two councils and urged each one to work together. Chatto said the full-council joint meeting of RDC-7 and RPOC-7 was "historic, while Davide said peace and order is necessary for good governance.

Balisacan, for his part, cited Boholanos' resiliency in coping with the recent calamities, the earthquake and Yolanda, that struck the province last year.

The secretary then announced the NEDA approval of the so-called "big ticket projects" for Bohol, the New Bohol Airport in Panglao island-town and the upgrading of the Malinao Irrigation Dam in Pilar town.

The RDC-7 tackled progress reports of the different committees while the RPOC-7 focused on the update of the crime situation, crime volume and police performance and efficiency in Central Visayas. (FREEMAN)
