Motorcycle crash: Brgy councilman, live-in partner die

CEBU, Philippines - A barangay councilman and his live-in partner were killed when the motorcycle they were riding crashed into the shoreline at Dumangas, Iloilo.

Renefredo Lobaton, 52, and Cecilia Montaño, both of Barangay Ilawod in Barotac Nuevo town of Iloilo, were declared dead on arrival at the Dumangas District Hospital Sunday afternoon.

A resident of the area, 26-year-old Aaron Demarana, saw the bodies of the two victims floating at the 5-foot deep seawaters at Barangay Dacutan.

Senior Inspector Jonathan Pinuela believed that it took more than 30 minutes before the victims' bodies were found after their motorcycle overshot the road, ran over the riprap and crashed into the shoreline, about 10 meters off the road. (FREEMAN)
