CEBU, Philippines - The 27-year-old secretary general of the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN)-Negros was arrested last Wednesday inside the Hall of Justice in Bacolod City where he had a pending maltreatment case.
Nabbed was Christian Tuayon, of Barangay Purisima in Manapla town, Negros Occidental, by virtue of a bench warrant issued last Jan. 29 by Bacolod City Municipal Trial Court in Cities-Branch 1 Judge Jose Paolo Ariola.
Tuayon allegedly failed to attend the court hearings on the maltreatment charges filed by a member of the 6th Regional Public Safety Batallion. He however insisted he attended all the hearings and denied the maltreatment charges, which he allegedly committed during the visit of President Aquino in Talisay City on May 5, 2012.
Tuayon is still detained in the Police Station 2, this city, since the arrest warrant did not recommend any bail. (FREEMAN)
