Man shot dead

DAUIS, BOHOL, Philippines — A 23-year-old man was shot several times and died on the spot at the causeway near the Jacinto Borja Bridge, connecting Tagbilaran City and this town, said a police report submitted to Bohol Provincial Police Office on Sunday evening.

The victim was identified as Melojohn Villarico, single and resident of Tinaan, Relocation Site in Naga City in Cebu. He sustained several gunshots on his head. He was wearing a red T-shirt, checkered short pants, red slipper and black bullcap, and had tattoos on his hands and body.

Investigators were still facing a blank wall on who were the assailants and the motive of the killing. the suspects and what is the motive of the killing. They gathered however that Villarico was earlier seen talking with two other people, one of whom was sitting on a black motorcycle, without plate number, parked at the causeway.

Few minutes later, bursts of gunfire were heard, and the assailants escaped on a motorcycle towards Tagbilaran, leaving behind the lifeless and bloodied Villarico, police said.

Municipal health officer Joni Co conducted a "post mortem" of the victim's cadaver, which was later brought to a funeral house for embalming.

The police recovered from the crime scene five empty shells of a .45-caliber handgun, five empty shells of a 9-mm handgun, a fired bullet, a black bag, and two mobile phones, investigators said. — (FREEMAN)
