3 killed, 3 hurt in road collision

BACOLOD CITY , Philippines   â€” Three people died and three were injured when their vehicles collided at Brgy  Mandalagan highway in this city at 3 a.m. yesterday, said Sr. Insp. Benedicto Villarias, chief of the city's Traffic Management Unit.

Dead on the spot were Christian Gabana, 28, the driver of a Nissan Sentra, and his companion Ma. Regine Dela Pena, while his other companion Jackie Jimenez died on arrival at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in this city, Villarias added.

Injured were Jerry Serano, 39, the driver of Cebro minibus, bus assistant Andy Lucidino, 22, and his passenger Jason Adol, 23, who were all treated with minor injuries also in the same hospital, he said.

The minibus was occupying the right lane, coming from Hinigaran town in southern Negros, and was carrying containers of squids for shipping at the Bacolod-Silay Airport in Northern Negros, when it collided with the Nissan Sentra, which came from the north and overtook another vehicle, Villarias added.  (FREEMAN)
