Gasoline supply lack drives prices up

CEBU, Philippines - Yolanda may have caused minimal damage in the towns of Inopacan, Hindang, Hilongos, Matalom and Bato in the southwestern part of Leyte province, but transportation has been the main problem due to lack of fuel supply.

Gasoline stations said they were still waiting for more supply from Cebu and this may not be near to come.

Long queues of buyers fight for the chance to buy gasoline from stations that was forced to limit the amount of fuel to be bought.

However, dealers, taking advantage of the volume of demand, have manipulated the price of gasoline at P150 per liter.

Meanwhile, curfew has been implemented in Hindang and Inopacan towns, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. to stop some people from burglarizing stores and residential houses.  (FREEMAN)
