DAR worker stabbed dead by 4 teeners
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A field surveyor of the Department of Agrarian Reform in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental was allegedly ganged up and stabbed dead by four teenagers for no apparent reason, police said.
Noe Quijano, 30, sustained multiple stab wounds and was declared dead on arrival at the Cadiz Emergency Clinic last Wednesday, said Inspector Erica Apellido, chief of the Women and Children Concerned Desk of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO).
Quijano was outside a beerhouse in that city when the teenagers struck him in the head with a stone. As he fell down, they mauled him and one of them stabbed him several times, police investigations showed.
The immediate response of the Cadiz Police led to the arrest of three of the four suspects, aged 16 and 17 years old, whose identities were being withheld for their being minors. The one who stabbed the victim fled and was still at large, said the police.
Apellido said the three arrested suspects were positively identified by a witness.
Senior Supt. Milko Lizaran, director of NOPPO, said they are now detained at the Cadiz City Police jail and murder charges will be filed against them, despite their being minors. (FREEMAN)
