2nd district town councilor wins PCL-Bohol presidency

DAUIS, BOHOL, Philippines - Councilor Antonio "Tony Pet" Ouano of Getafe town in the 2nd district was elected and proclaimed as the new president of the Philippine Councilors League-Bohol chapter, after a hotly contested election last Friday at a resort in Dayo Hill of this town.

Ouano got 262 votes to defeat incumbent president, Councilor Ramonito Torrefranca of Carmen town, who had 201 votes. A total of 469 out of 482 councilors from around the province cast their votes in the PCL-Bohol election, administered by DILG-Bohol director Lousella Lucino.

Lucino and Provincial Board secretary Boni Quirog official proclaimed Ouano and other elected PCL-Bohol officers, who were later sworn into office by 2nd district Rep. Aris Aumentado, and witnessed by Councilor Alan Zulueta of Tagum City in Davao del Norte, PCL national chairman, Danao town Vice Mayor Tom Gonzaga and Carmen town Mayor Che delos Reyes.

The elected executive vice president of PCL-Bohol was Ouano's runningmate, Councilor Rochelle Brigette Lim Imboy of Loay town, who garnered 234 votes against Councilor Ariel Lungay of Catigbian town who had 211 votes.

Rochelle, daughter of Mayor Rosemarie Lim Imboy and PB Member Brigido Imboy, was no longer around during the proclamation rites that took place after the canvassing of votes, which ended at past 1 a.m. yesterday.

Other elected PCL-Bohol vice presidents were Councilors Crispina Vergara of Mabini (vice president-external), Edwin Baja of Garcia-Hernandez (VP-internal affairs), Bernard Lansang of Balilihan (VP for 1st district), Jose June Diezon of Clarin (VP-2nd district) and Atan Binlod of Carmen (VP-3rd district).

The elected directors of the board were: Councilors Nicomedes Tago of Dimiao town, Felix Tan, Jescelo Adiong of Loay, Constantino Atuel, Ann Piquero Dy of Candijay, Jeremias Ellorimo of Sikatuna, Carmen Jaminal of Garcia-Hernandez and Erwin Baquial of Loboc.

Other elected officers were: Councilors Cecil Rebosura of Antequera (secretary-general), Victoria Lim of Valencia (deputy secretary-general), Ricky Masamayor (treasurer), Robert Olaer of Candijay (asst. treasurer), Cesar Cagulada of Jagna (business manager), Danilo Bandala of Corella (auditor), Paciente Fuentes of Tubigon (asst. auditor), Romulo Balangkig of Baclayon (PRO for 1st district), Vicente Auza of Talibon (PRO-2nd dist.) and Pol Bernadas of Duero (PRO-3rd dist.). —photo by Ric V.
