HINDANG, LEYTE, Philippines — Unidentified men riding in a motorcycle gunned down a 33-year-old resident of this town along the national highway at around 5pm on Thursday (June 21), police reports said.
The victim, identified as Salvador “Donjie†Picson, was driving his car with his three workers on their way to his farm at Brgy. Tagbibi of this town but had to stop at a portion of the highway, where a road re-blocking work was being undertaken, to give way to another vehicle from the opposite direction.
Suddenly, the riding-in-tandem men appeared from behind his vehicle and fired shots at him. Picson sustained two gunshot wounds on his face, and one each on his neck, arm and upper left part of his back.
The gunmen immediately fled towards Hilongos town, while the victim was rushed to the Leyte Baptist Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician Nori Jane Galagar.
Police recovered from the crime scene four empty shells and two slugs of .9mm-caliber pistol. Investigation and follow-up operations were still being undertaken to determine the identities and arrest the perpetrators. (FREEMAN)
