Himamaylan City: Grenade blast kills 2, hurts 1
CEBU, Philippines - A grenade explosion killed two persons and injured another in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental yesterday, police said.
Police identified the fatalities as cousins Jonathan and Ranie Sibugero, who died when the suspect, later identified as Ronnie Dogobeo, lobbed the grenade at them in their backyard in Brgy. Mahalang of Himamaylan.
Jonathan’s right leg and right arm were severed, while Ranie’s body was littered with shrapnels’ wounds from the grenade explosion, an ABS-CBN Bacolod report said.
Jonathan’s younger brother, Jonerey, who sustained injuries from the grenade blasts, said he was able to jump away and seek cover when he allegedly saw Dogobeo threw a grenade at them while they were conversing in their backyard.
The police are now investigating the motive of the crime, but Supt. Simeon Gane Jr., acting chief of Himamaylan City Police, said that, prior to the incident, the victims, while having a drink earlier in the day, bullied Dogobeo who happened to pass by them. (FREEMAN)
