Bohol’s elusive escapee nabbed in Misamis Or

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines — Nine months in hiding after the daring escape from the Bohol District Jail, inmate Exequiel Aniscal finally fell to the hands of the authorities in Misamis Oriental.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Team (CIDT), led by Chief Insp. Rene Kyamko, cornered Aniscal while having lunch with his live-in partner at 11:45 a.m. the other day (February 19) inside the house they rented at sitio Man-iso in Brgy. Mandangoa of Balingasag town in Misamis Oriental.

The news of Aniscal’s arrest broke out in Bohol at around 12:30 p.m. that same day when Governor Edgar Chatto was about to adjourn the meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council at the People’s Mansion here in the city.

Bohol Police provincial director Sr. Supt. Constantino Barot Jr. announced the results of the CIDT’s manhunt operation in coordination with its counterparts in Misamis Oriental.

In his statement later, Kyamko said Aniscal and his live-in partner had with them their five-month-old baby when they raided the house. Aniscal did not resist, said Kyamko who clarified that the CIDT’s raid was based on the fugitive’s jailbreak from Bohol together with two other inmates.

The raiding team seized two .45-caliber pistols and one .357-caliber revolver from Aniscal’s possession, which meant that charges of illegal possession of firearms, besides violation of the election gun ban, will be filed in Misamis Oriental against the fugitive before bringing and turning him back to Bohol jail authorities.

Based on this incident, the CIDT will file charges of illegal possession of firearms in Misamis Oriental court against Aniscal, before bringing him back to Bohol and turn him over to the BDJ where he is facing charges of robbery with homicide. (FREEMAN)
