Six teeners rescued from frat hazing

Danny B. Dangcalan - The Freeman

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Six teenagers, four of them minors, were rescued by the police from hazing by fraternity men at a house in Brgy. Alijis of this city last Thursday.

Chief Insp. Levy Pange, Bacolod Police Station 7 commander, said they received information from a barangay official that young men were allegedly being subjected to hazing at a house in ECC Villas.

When the policemen reached the house, they saw at least 30 members of the fraternity named “Akrho” and six teenagers being paddled, Pangue said. The police withheld the names of the teenagers with ages ranging from 16 to 18.

Only three fraternity leaders were arrested because their companions fled as soon as the policemen arrived, a police report showed. These leaders, whose names were being withheld, are now detained at the lock-up cell of Police Station 7, Pangue said.

Two of the six teenagers rescued however told the police they would not file charges against their detained frat leaders, Pangue added. (FREEMAN)
