P30K for Bohol LGU workers’ Christmas

Ric V. Obedencio - The Freeman

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines  — All of the Bohol Capitol officials and rank-and-file regular employees are richer by P30,000 as their performance enhancement incentive (PEI) as an added bonus for this Christmas.

The windfall came following the Provincial Board’s approval last Friday of an ordinance appropriating an unspecified amount of funds from undetermined source as introduced by PB Member Cesar Tomas Lopez during session presided over by Vice Gov. Concepcion Lim.

The PB measure was an offshoot of Gov. Edgar Chatto’s request for an appropriation, of which he recommended for the granting of the PEI to qualified officials and employees.”

Lopez said regular employees will receive at least P30,000 each, while casual on plantilla and contractual workers at P15,000 each and casual workers under job order, who have rendered at least six months of service, P5,000 each.

Though the total amount was not mentioned during the plenary, it was estimated that the total amount of the bonanza would amount to P50 million, considering that the Capitol has about 1,300 regular and permanent employees, including those in ten devolved hospitals.

The employees however may not be able to get the yearly collective negotiation agreement (CNA) incentive of at least P10,000 each this year based on the announcement made by the governor during the convocation program held last Dec. 3.

Earlier, the employees already received their respective cash gifts and annual 13th month-pays.

The granting of the PEI is based on budget circular number 2012-3, guidelines to government employees for fiscal year 2012, signed by Budget Secretary Florencio Abad. Release or payment of this will be made not earlier than December 14..  (FREEMAN)
