BACOLOD CITY , Philippines — A 38-year-old man, believed to be mentally unstable, beheaded his 70-year-old mother at their residence in Brgy. 7 of Moises Padilla town in Negros Occidental Tuesday, police said.
According to Sr. Insp. Robert Mansueto, the severed head of Nenita Belleza was found on a table beside a Christmas tree in the living room where it was discovered by a neighbor around 6:00 a.m. Her headless body was found lying across the kitchen door, he said.
Wilfredo Semillano, 45, the family’s neighbor, reported the incident to the Moises Padilla Police.
The suspect, Jojie Aguirre, a known alcoholic, had used a bolo in decapitating his mother, and the bolo was found on a chair near the table, Mansueto said.
The police arrested Aguirre who they found in blood-soaked clothes drinking alcohol outside their house, said the police official, adding that the suspect, who was incoherent when apprehended, will be subjected to psychological evaluation and that parricide charges will be filed against him.
Aguirre was noted to be suffering from depression and alcoholism, after his wife, a teacher, left him, with their children, said Mansueto.
The suspect and his mother were the only ones at their house when the crime was committed, and that, a day before the incident, the mother had gone to the police station asking the police to detain her son because he was dangerous. (FREEMAN)
