Filipinos here should give due recognition to this bright, effective president of our otherwise beleaguered nation. Come on, compare him to Arroyo and Estrada, shameless centerpieces of corruption. He's the greater thing, if not the greatest, that has joined Philippine politics made cruel going back to Marcos..
The Philippines has been pulled out from its infamous corruption reputation starting when PNoy showed the world the principle of "daan na matuwid" and did whatever he could do to create infrastructures towards this road.
Look at the increased investor confidence in the country. Then at the easier to access valuable foreign aid. Plus the new pride in being Filipino here and abroad when identified with this straight-shooting guy, inspiring guy.
Regarding Cardinal Vidal's urging him to step down. Very disappointing that he's using his retired position in the Catholic church to register an objection regarding the unfortunate death of the 44 dead in the massacre. He should be focusing his moral ascendancy on correcting errant members of his flock. That's where he has legitimate jurisdiction.
More disappointing that behind him stand Tatad and Fernandez both associated with corrupt governments that deprived and killed so many Filipinos all, both salivating to take another grab of power they've lost with their iffy plan for provisional governance.
Really. Can't they calculate costs of undeserved impeachment proceedings or a Binay-led laughing stock of a government compared to waiting for the next scheduled election? Here I resort to the solace of a powerful Cebuano phrase: "Gikuwangan ni sila ug usa ka handos."
Archbishop Palma on the other hand is a model in balanced respectful giving of his position on a controversy. He's behaving more like a prince of the church.
