First, the call was made to assemble in Luneta. The goal: a million Filipinos to express their disgust and rage over the pork barrel scam and to have the pork barrel in Congress abolished.
Then, the call caught on. Cebu followed, then Davao, Bohol and Antique. Until Monday, it will not come as a surprise to us if there will be more assemblies in other parts of the country.
The timing is ripe for change!
If P.Noy is true to his word that the Filipinos, that we, are his bosses, then let the millions who installed him as president, show themselves once again to tell him clearly about pork, abuse, and corruption: Tama na, sobrana, palitan na!
This is the same slogan used during the time of P.Noy's mother- just after the August 21 assassination of his father Ninoy. Then millions of Filipinos gathered in Luneta and their number and faith in themselves, and most especially in God and our Mama Mary, led to People Power, the toppling of Marcos, the dictator, and the restoration of democracy.
The path since the days of Marcos has neither been smooth nor matuwid. P.Noy, though reluctant, has providentially been assigned the task to straighten the way of and for the Lord, for our people. Let him remember his pact with God and our people.
Be counted among our people who care about our country! Be among those who really, genuinely want the pork barrel to be restored to our people! Be among those who want to get rid of the corrupt and the abusers!
Join the assemblies where you are: at 9a.m. in Luneta, in Fuente Osmeña and in specified areas in your own place! Let AUGUST 26 be a genuine day to celebrate, to commemorate heroes! Be among this country's heroes who sincerely want the best for our people, for our country!
The August 26th assemblies have been called various names, depending on the participants, the groups and individuals converging on that day. However it is called, let it be remembered as the day Filipinos united together for change, for real peace and love to reign in our midst, in our country!
There is a convergence that pork has to go- that Congress should not at all be given any pork anymore from hereon. Historically, pork barrel was never part of the original Congress. Legislators were elected to deal with laws of the land, not to receive pork and use this for personal or altruistic purposes. If Congress can also be abolished, that will be a double whammy for this nation. But let us proceed one step at a time, and let us remember to take our steps always in synchrony with God, His will and His grace for our people and our country.
What is good about the abolition of the pork barrel?
Public funds will be restored to our people, hopefully through effective, honest, transparent channels that will distribute the much-needed funds especially for the most needy among our kababayans.
Only the true public servant, the deserving and qualified, will run for Congress. No more mediocre, we pray. No more abusive and corrupt, we pray as well.
If public funds are channeled so efficiently and in a very transparent manner that no one, no party can ever use this for one's own personal/party agenda, then prayerfully, political dynasties may also tumble one by one, just as the seemingly impossible toppling of the Marcos dictatorship. Nothing is impossible with a united citizenry and definitely, nothing impossible with God ever.
If public funds are effectively channeled and used for public welfare, see our country rise slowly but surely beyond poverty, see our people slowly raising their heads high in pride that we have achieved meaningful change and August 26, 2013 was a historic step towards a better, truly God-serving and blessed nation for all!
Make your presence count! Join and unite with all other Filipinos! Remember to be with the rest of the nation at 9a.m. where you are, at Fuente Osmeña if you are in Cebu.
For those who cannot physically join the assemblies, join us in prayers, before, during and after August 26th. So much every Filipino can share to make this nation take the right path towards God and our people!
