Leftist partylists helping fund the NPAs?

Very few columnists dare to write about the activities of the New People’s Army (NPA), which is why a couple of Mondays ago, while we were with the Visayas and Mindanao media personalities attending the Globe Telecom event, the Mindanao journalists were profuse in thanking me for always writing against the Communist insurgency, especially the bloodthirsty NPAs, which has grown bolder and bolder in 2013, no thanks to the Aquino Regime, which has allowed the ranks of these terrorists to swell.

It started early January this year when a Surigao mining complex was raided by the NPAs and Japanese executives were taken hostage for hours until they were released when they learned that the military was on their way. It got worse when last month, some 150 armed NPAs raided the famous Del Monte Plantation in Bukidnon.

Then a couple of weeks ago, the NPAs raided La Castellana where two people were killed. Then finally a few days ago, the wife of former Vice President Teofisto Guingona and Sen. Guingona, Mayor Ruth Guingona was ambushed and nearly killed, while her two bodyguards were shot dead.To add salt to their deaths, the NPA apologized for that ambush. What a farce!

Noting that the NPAs attacks have become so freuqent and lead to more deaths, finally Pres. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino, III was “forced” to order the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to crush the NPA checkpoints. This only proves to you that our Commander-in-Chief has no knowledge about the tactics and ways of the NPAs. These terrorists do not hold permanent checkpoints, they just set them up when things are clear then stop people so that they could extort money from them,  or worse, set up an ambush like what they did to the Gingoog Mayor.

Of course, we welcome the President’s move to supposedly “crush” the NPAs. But if you ask me, this is not really an order to stop the decades long communist rebellion, rather this order looks like he is sending the military to prevent the NPAs from setting up roadblocks or manning checkpoints. As if on cue, Palace spokesman Edwin Lacierda suddenly dared the NPAs to face the Marines paraphrasing Clint Eastwood’s “Go ahead make my day.” Lacierda probably thinks he is facing neighborhood punks.

Come now Mr. Lacierda, perhaps it is time to ask yourself…how could the NPAs have gained so much strength in less than three years under the Aquino Presidency? The answer is crystal clear… the leftists working with the Aquino Regime has made sure that the hand of the military gets tied to the point that they can no longer see what’s going around them.

We’ve already written in length that the intelligence budget of the AFP has been slashed to the point that it has no money to “buy” supporters living around the military camps. A military’s intelligence fund can purchase cellphones or “loads” to cellphones in return for information when they see people with arms roaming their vicinity. But that’s not happening anymore.

In the case of the attack at the Del Monte Plantation in Bukidnon done by around 150 NPAs, the military was totally blind that armed men had surrounded the pineapple plantation. Thanks to the friends of the NPAs working inside Malacañang, who have worked hard to tie the hands of the military. If you didn’t know, the information I got from my trips to Metro Manila is that, the NPAs now have caches of arms placed in strategic locations on the ready if and when chaos will start.

Worse for Metro Manila is the removal of the so-called National Capital Region Command (NCR) headed then by Gen. Charlie Holganza. This unit was created by then President Fidel V. Ramos as an anti-coup military unit. But under the Aquino Regime, this was disbanded a year ago. Why?

Now if you ask yourself, who is funding the NPAs? If you really studied what is happening around you, perhaps you’ll realize that the partylist system has allowed the above-ground allies of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) to enter the hallowed halls of Congress and get funding through the hated Pork Barrel wherein even the partylist congressmen and women have P70 Million annually. If these leftist groups like Bayan, Anakbayan, Gabriela, Akbayan, pooled their resources, it means that the NPAs don’t need to extort money…although many NPAs still rob their victims.

This is why I am for the total abolition of the partylist system as these groups are using our own tax money to kill Filipino soldiers and civilians who do not embrace their useless ideology. Educated people know that Communism is already passé. But not the poor uneducated people in the hinterlands. Mind you, Maoist type of Communism in North Korea still thrives and threatens world peace. Yet under the Aquino Regime, they have gained so much strength. So think again! A vote for PNoy’s Liberal Party candidates is a vote for communism and a vote to support the NPAs.
