It says here that virgin coconut oil is good for the health. So let’s make sure that our coconut oil maintains its virginity.

More and more Pinoys, even the rich, now go for pan de sal for breakfast, says this news item here. This backs up the DOT’s “More pan in the Philippines” slogan.

Ice cream is now used for beauty treatment in beauty salons. It’s used as massaging cream. Which now makes ice cream acceptable to diet watchers.

SWS says only 37 percent of Pinoy Catholics attend Mass. I heard someone comment: “Yet, all Catholic churches in Phl are bursting at the seams every Sunday, for morning and afternoon Masses. A recount is a must.”

Another someone I know says if it’s really true that less and less Pinoys are attending Mass, let’s bring the Mass to where the bigger percentage of Pinoy Catholics are on Sundays — maybe the cockpits and the casinos.

Africans, especially the Cameroonians, are now the “apples of the eyes” of collegiate cage squads. In Manila some of the collegiate cage teams with African players are San Beda, La Salle and UST. In Cebu, SWU had one of the best Cameroonian cagers but was gobbled up by La Salle. But no matter, SWU still managed to recruit another to boost its lineup.

“Why Africans?” I asked one knowledgeable hardcourt observer. His answer was: “Because aside from their playing skill, there is their build — height, heft and power.”If the PBA teams are hiring power Blacks, our collegiate leagues should also be allowed to recruit Africans who can make the games more thrilling to watch. This view from my compadre Buddy Go and I agree.

OVERHEARD. Some party attenders were heard talking about Cebu’s columnist. One of them said: “I read Leo Lastimosa’s ‘Arangkada’ column. Never mind the issues I just love his Cebuano prose...Read Leo’s ‘Arangkada’ and you’ll realize how beautiful our language is.” The said party attender is said to have a Ph.D. in English.
