Cutie's Magna Carta for the Poor passes

It'll be Valentine's Day soon. Some call it day of love. Are the Liberal Party and UNA Party people ready to love their enemies (Matthew 5:44)?

I heard someone say on TV that a bulging middle is becoming to be a problem to many men. Problem? Didn't they say that's a sign of progress?

***

There's a friend of mine whose wife never listens to him talk. When he talks even on matters of importance his wife doesn't seem to care. Until he followed an advice for him to talk to another woman.

If you happen to be in a fastfood shop, try watching women coming in as you wait for your order. You'll find out that there are more heavyweights than lightweights.

Who was it who said that our women are not as successful as the men in any human endeavor? He was right. Because women do not have wives. (This from the president of a women's club.)

Levity aside now, Rep. Cutie del Mar will soon end her stint in the House of Representatives but not without leaving it with a milestone legislation, the Magna Carta for the Poor Bill. This Bill has already been passed. It outlines the rights of the poor to achieve a better life.

Should former Rep. Raul del Mar, Cutie's dad, succeed in taking over Cutie's representation of the city's First District (North), it will be Raul's job to see to it that Cutie's law is well implemented. Raul, an old hand in the House, can take care of it.

I watched a TV program last night (Feb. 7) where the “problem” of the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) was discussed. The program ended without the discussants, supposedly experts on technology concerning PCOS, presenting solid solution or solutions to the problem.

So the problems remain. And it's now barely three months to election day. There are now suggestions about reverting to manual polls. Even this cannot be easily re-implemented according to some knowledgeable observers. We are in a situation worse than being between the devil and the deep blue sea.

OVERHEARD. A  group of mothers were heard talking about the sex scandal involving the girl student of a local university.
