CEBU, Philippines - A 50-year-old woman yielded P143,000 worth of illegal drugs during a search implemented by the police yesterday morning in her residence in Sitio Aroma, Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Armed with a search warrant signed by RTC Branch 56 Judge Teresita Abarquez-Galanida, elements of the Mandaue City Police Office Station 2 headed to the house of Josephine "Sipen" Dimag at 6 a.m. yesterday. She was arrested after the discovery.
The arresting team led by Senior Inspector Narciso Abapo allegedly recovered in Dimag’s house two big packs of suspected shabu, 26 small sachets of the same drugs, seven rolled tin foils, three disposable lighters, a pair of scissors and one improvised tooter.
Police Officer 3 Arthur Cuyos, station desk officer, said the suspect is now detained at their station, pending the filing of the criminal charges against her.
Earlier, MCPO chief Senior Superintendent Jonathan Cabal told the media of their plans for a continuous crackdown against the illegal drugs in Mandaue.
Cabal said densely populated areas are possible hives of the illegal trade. Hence, he appealed to the 27 barangays to help them track those involved in the trade, small or big-time.
He urged the barangays to activate their anti-illegal drug councils as these can largely support the local police.
He also asked the barangays to have their respective watchlists of drug dealers for easy monitoring and also for police information.
If the police have arrested a notorious drug pusher, for example, and the barangay where this pusher is living has not included him in its list, then Cabal said the barangay is sleeping on its job. (FREEMAN)
