CEBU, Philippines – A businessman who filed a case of graft and corruption against Talisay City Mayor Johnny de los Reyes was disappointed with the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas.
Vicente "Jun" Cabrera claimed that the agency does not have concrete resolution of the case he filed last March 2014.
He said for a year, he never stopped going to the Ombudsman to follow up on the case, however, the personnel of said office reportedly could not give him the answer that he expected.
Cabrera, in an interview, said that he is planning to go to Manila to personally ask answers from Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales.
Cabrera, who is from Barangay Tabunok, was the first person to file graft and corruption case before the Ombudsman against Mayor JVR and his son, John Yre, who is the city administrator and the previous chairman of Bids and Awards Committee.
Other respondents are budget officer Edgar Mabunay, city treasurer Emma Macuto, and owner of Blackpearl Security Agency, Baltaire Balangauan.
The case was based on the hiring of Blackpearl Security Agency allegedly without properly complying with the bidding process and without the city council's approval.
Deputy Ombudsman for the Visayas, lawyer Paul Elmer Clemente, sent a letter to both parties last February this year to submit their position paper, the evidences and affivadit to start with the formal investigation.
Until now, however, there is no movement of the case. (FREEMAN)
