Mandaue rerouting starts tomorrow

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City’s traffic division is scheduled to implement a rerouting scheme in some areas effective tomorrow, October 31, until November 2.

Glen Antigua, chief of operations of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM), said the rerouting scheme starts at 6 a.m. on October 31 until 12 a.m. of November 2.

Antigua said all tricycles will be allowed to ply routes leading to the cemeteries, anticipating that these will be jam-packed with people visiting the graves of their departed loved once.

Hence, from Barangays Maguikay and Cabancalan, all tricycles must take M.L. Quezon Street, leading to A.C. Cortes Avenue and right turn to S.B. Cabahug Street to the Mandaue Public Market (back to S.B. Cabahug Street), and right turn to Avancena Street, left turn to P. Burgos and another left turn to A.C. Cortes, onward to their destinations.

Public utility vehicles from Lapu-Lapu City must use the A.C. Cortes and turn to M.C. Briones to Subangdaku, then left turn to M. Logarta Street, and another left turn to E.O. Perez Street and to P. Burgos Street.

For private vehicles, Antigua said, there are designated parking areas outside the cemeteries, especially in Barangay Guizo where the Mandaue Municipal Cemetery, Manpark, another Catholic cemetery, and Grossman are located.

Antigua urged private vehicle owners to take note of the traffic signages for them to be guided.

He added that they will apprehend those who violate traffic rules.

He also advised motorists to just take a walk or public commute instead of driving their vehicles if their houses are just nearby the cemeteries.

All 150 TEAM personnel will be on duty on these days, according to Antigua. Barangay tanods and policemen will be also deployed in these areas.

Antigua’s men will be concentrated in Guizo, being heavily congested during these days, but he said they will still be deploying personnel in other areas where there are cemeteries like in barangays Jagobiao and Pagsabungan, among others. (FREEMAN)
