Boat sinks in Talisay due to strong waves

Gabriel Bonjoc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines –  A boat boarded by two fishermen sank in the seawaters off Psalm Base, Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City yesterday morning.

Carding Base and a certain Arnel, who are both of legal age, survived the incident.

Arceli Base, wife of Carding, told The Freeman that her husband pursued to go out fishing even with the threat of bad weather.

"Kusog gyud to ang bawod pero akong bana dili man magpapugong nga managat aron nalang daw naa'y panud-an ug baligya," Arceli said.

Roy Nudnud, Poblacion barangay tanod, said Carding usually catches fish in Pungaton reef near the light house.

He said Carding and his companion were fortunate enough since their boat just sank near the shore.

Arceli said her husband told her that the sea was too wavy and that they could not even move paddling.

"Maayo nalang gani kay duol nalang sila sa baybayon ug nakit-an na sa mga silingan," said Arceli.

They were towed by their neighbors and their catch were still intact.

Arceli was able to sell fish to their neighbors. She was thankful for her husband's second shot at life.  (FREEMAN)
