CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City mayoralty candidate, Councilor Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon, has claimed her being a true Mandauehanon is her advantage against her opponent, sixth district Representative Gabriel Luis “Luigi” Quisumbing.
“I believe Mandauehanons will choose one of their own and mas mopili sila og leader na mas makasabot sa ila’ng mga panginahanglan,” Ouano-Dizon said.
The original Quisumbing was reportedly a Chinese migrant that originally settled in Capiz and Iloilo provinces in Western Visayas and Luigi’s great grandfather came from Bulacan. His great grandfather and grandfather had established businesses in Mandaue City since 1951.
Ouano-Dizon said she decided to run for mayor to expand and give more services to the Mandauehanons. She will prioritize education and health services.
On traffic and flood problems, Ouano-Dizon said a traffic management plan and a comprehensive drainage plan shall be formulated first.
“Everything man gyud should have a management plan before we implement, unsa’y angay i-implement sa siyudad,” she said.
Ouano-Dizon also envisions a reclamation in Barangays Labogon and Paknaan areas to ease traffic, as well as to generate jobs and increase the city’s revenue.
