CEBU, Philippines - A 53-year-old coachman or driver of a horse-drawn carriage was found dead Wednesday dawn on the street in Barangay Cogon Pardo, Cebu City after his jealous girlfriend allegedly stabbed him.
Allan Plaresan Mañigo, 53, of Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City sustained stab wounds on the left side of his neck that led to his death.
A certain witness, Larry Sadura, claimed at during the incident, he saw the female suspect — only identified by nickname “Lita” — pass by him while muttering, “Dah! Nag-una-una bitaw ka! (Good for you because you started it!)”
As Sadura was curious what was happening around, he looked at where the woman came from, only to see the victim fell to the ground, blooded.
He then crossed the street toward where Mañigo fell and sought assistance from the barangay hall which is only 30 meters from the crime scene.
The Cebu City Emergency Medical Service later brought Mañigo to Cebu City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Senior Police Officer 2 Rommel Bancug, investigator at the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office, said Mañigo’s brother Jaime had told them that Lita also stabbed Allan in the eye a year ago, allegedly out of jealousy as well.
It was not immediately clear, however, why the suspect got jealous with Mañigo, although the victim’s brother said they have observed that the two had frequently engaged in a fight recently.
Police are still trying to locate Lita who, just like Mañigo, is also a resident of Duljo-Fatima. They believe that the suspect may have not known that her boyfriend died because she just casually walked from the crime scene.
