Talisay council gives livestock program a go
CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City Council has green-lighted the implementation of National Livestock Program with the Department of Labor and Employment.
The council authorized Mayor Johnny De los Reyes to enter into a memorandum of agreement with DOLE for the said project which is under the Grassroots Participatory Budgeting/Bottoms-Up Budgeting projects.
Councilor Antonio D. Bacaltos, chairman of the Committee on Agriculture, said P800,000 will be transferred to the city government for the livestock program.
"The MOA is necessary before the amount will be transferred to the city government for the intended projects," Bacaltos said.
Bacaltos said the city government requested the funds from DOLE, and the fund was received by Department of Agriculture-7.
He said the city has the administrative and technical capability to implement the eligible GPBP projects, specifically the National Livestock Program.
He added that the city does not have an outstanding unliquidated fund with the DOLE.
"The DA and the City of Talisay are committed and collaborating with each other for the successful implementation of the GPBP projects in the region, bearing in mind that the projects are to reduce poverty incidence," Bacaltos said. — Garry B. Lao (FREEMAN)
