CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Sixth District Representative Luis Gabriel Quisumbing who is also the vice chairman of  the House Committee on Budget and Appropiations joined President Benigno Aquino III in the signing of the 2015 General Appropriations act at Malacañang Palace last December 23.

Quisumbing in a press release said the 2015 General Appropriations Act is crafted based on the following framework: social protection and social services, economic expansion, job creation and livelihood development, climate change and disaster risk reduction.

This as the 2015 budget of the Aquino administration is also committed to the fight against poverty.

“We are happy that this budget gives due recognition to the needs of our fellow Cebuanos through the inclusion of major infrastructure projects and social services.  There are notable items earmarked for flood control and road widening to ease traffic congestion which is becoming a major concern in the sixth district and the entire Metro Cebu,”  Quisumbing said.

He added that both the House of Representatives and the Senate pushed for the timely passage of the national budget for 2015 as they wanted to give due consideration to transparency in allocating additional resources to the national agencies for programs that would best serve the  people.
