CEBU, Philippines – The Mandaue City Council has approved two ordinances that will increase the financial assistance for the senior citizens and differently–abled citizens in the city.
From the P2,000 annual financial assistance for senior citizens, the City Council granted the additional P1,000 so to increase it to P3,000 which will be released in two tranches.
The first P1,500 will be received on June as mid-year assistance while the last P1,500 as year-end assistance will be received every December.
While the differently-abled persons registered in the Office of the Differently–Abled Persons Affairs in Mandaue City will receive an increase of P1,000 from their usual P500 financial aid. They will get the assistance anytime but not later than every 25th of December.
The fund for the financial assistance for the differently-abled persons will be coursed through the annual lump sum appropriation equivalent to one percent of the total annual budget of the city government.
City Treasurer Regal Oliva said in an earlier interview that all financial assistance granted to both senior citizens and differently-abled persons in the city will all be distributed within this week.
He said he does not want to keep cash in the office vault to avoid untoward incident especially during long holiday. — /JRS
