CEBU, Philippines – A 17-year-old died while his companion was injured after they were stabbed while having a drinking spree in Lower Barangay Calajo-an, Minglanilla, Cebu yesterday.

Cargie Giltendez was rushed to the Minglanilla District Hospital but was pronounced dead after he sustained a stab wound on his left chest.

Giltendez’ friend, Junrey Deis, 23, was wounded on the back part of his body and is now confined at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Initial investigation revealed that Giltendez and Deis were having a drinking session in a videoke bar together with their two other friends when Ronald Albajer, 32, who was drinking on his own, suddenly got up from his chair and stabbed the victims.

SPO1 Florante Capangpangan of Minglanilla Police Station said that Albajer was drunk when he allegedly stabbed the victims.

“Ingon sila Sanchez ug Cañete, wa man daw sila kaila sa suspect. Ngadto pang higayona nila nakit-an tong tawhana. Nakainom siya unya nahubog,” Capangpangan stated.

Capangpangan added that Albajer kept on denying that he stabbed the victims.

“Tungod sa kahubog niya gabie, ingon siya nga dili kuno siya ang nihimo sa krimen,” said Capangpangan.

The police were not able to recover the knife that Albajer used and they are still conducting a follow-up investigation for the possible motive of the killing.

Albajer is currently detained at the Minglanilla Police Station for the filing of charges.
