CEBU, Philippines – Two motorcycle-riding men robbed a 72-year-old chicken vendor at corner Hilltop, Consolacion, Cebu on Sunday.
Initial investigation revealed that Letecia Avila was on a multicab pick-up type driven by Danilo Noval, 44, on their way home to Casili, Consolacion from selling dressed chickens at Carbon Public Market in Cebu City.
Upon reaching the corner, unknown men riding on a white motorcycle with plate number covered with a cardboard suddenly blocked their way. Each of the suspects immediately drew a .45 caliber pistol and declared the holdup. One of the men disembarked from the motorcycle and took the apron worn by Avila containing P10,000 cash from the proceeds of sold chickens.
Senior Police Officer 3 Reynerio Patillas of Consolacion Police Station said the robbers might have followed the victim and chose to execute the holdup at the corner due to its strategic location.
"Kuyawan guro na silag sa Mandaue sila motira kay lisod man ilusot. Diha (Hilltop, Consolacion) kay daghan man og lutsanan," Patillas said.
After taking the loot, the suspects fled to an unknown direction. The police are still conducting a follow-up investigation to identify the suspects.
