Neighbor stabs man

CEBU, Philippines -  A man who just came from his grandfather's wake was stabbed by his neighbor Thursday night outside the gym in Sitio Million Flower, Barangay Looc, Lapu-Lapu City.

Junbie Brigoli, 31, was walking his way home around 9:20 p.m. when his neighbor Justin Atay, 18, allegedly spit on him.

Police Officer 2 John Carlo Cutanda said the alleged spitting led Brigoli to confront Atay, making way for a verbal and fistfight.

Into the fight, Atay allegedly pulled out an icepick tucked on his waist and then stabbed Brigoli several times in the left chest.

The suspect fled from the scene to avoid arrest while the victim was brought to Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital and was later transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for further medical treatment.

Cutanda said a follow-up investigation will be conducted for the possible arrest of the suspect.  —  (FREEMAN)
