JVR told: Implement computer system

Garry B. Lao - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – Talisay City Councilor Aldin Diaz, who is the head of the Committee on Communication and Information Technology, is asking Mayor Johnny "JVR" De los Reyes to implement the revenue-generating computerization program.

In his proposed resolution, Diaz said it is high time for the city to implement such program to encourage convenience on the part of the public that transacts with the City Hall.

According to Diaz, the implementation of computerization program will allow the clients to experience hassle-free, convenient transactions, especially at the City Treasurer's Office.

Diaz also said the implementation of the program will expedite the release of permits, sparing the public from unnecessary expenses associated with the previous interminable waiting for the permits to be issued.

"The renewal of business permits [will be] apace and it will also help maintain and promote integrity, accountability, and transparency with regard to the manner of transacting with the public," Diaz said.

Diaz said it will take two to three months to get all things ready for the implementation of the database.

The implementation of computerization program, Diaz added, is in compliance with the Seal of Good Local Governance and the Anti-Red Tape Law.

The Seal of Good Housekeeping, which originated from the SGH program in 2010, is introduced to provide greater challenge to our local governments to continue good governance practices while providing better services, he said.

The predecessor of Seal of Good Local Governance, the Seal of Good Housekeeping, measures the levels of compliance to the DILG's Full Disclosure Policy, particularly in the areas of budget, revenues and procurement, among others, as well as meeting the requirements of Anti-Red Tape Act.
