Carcar expects jobs for locals from store openings
CEBU, Philippines – Aside from boosting local economy, officials are hoping that the opening of a fastfood chain and a chain store in Carcar City will also provide more job opportunities for locals.
Mayor Nicepuro Apura expressed hope that the opening of McDonalds and Metro Gaisano store by November of this year will give work for Carcaranons, according to city information officer Candice Acuña.
Acuña said the Human Resource Department of the fastfood chain is looking at a total workforce of 85, which includes both part-time and full-time employees. Another 100 workers will be needed for Gaisano Metro's operations, she added.
She said students or college undergraduates are encouraged to apply as experience will not required.
Earlier, Apura has personally asked the business establishments to prioritize the Carcaranons in their workforce.
Apura lamented that it is sad to see young people of the city leave home to seek jobs overseas or in other areas outside Carcar because there are no jobs available.
Apura said he is looking forward to seeing more investors come to the city.
