CEBU, Philippines- The Talisay City government has until August 15 to submit its technical details of approved Tourist and Visitor Information Center.
City Councilor Doroteo Emit, chairman of the committee on Tourism and Heritage, said the Department of Tourism requires local government units to have a Visitor Info Center so they can qualify for other technical and financial assistance from the department.
"The DOT's financial assistance for the city under the BUB or Grassroots Budgeting Program shall be forfeited if the city fails to submit the requisites on time," Emit said.
In his proposed resolution, Emit is asking Mayor Johnny De los Reyes to direct the city planning and city engineering office to speed up their preparation of all necessary requisites and for the construction of the tourist and visitor information center.
"The DOT has given the Talisay City government until 15th of August 2014 to submit the technical details of approved Tourist/Visitor Info Center," he added.
City Councilor Aldin Diaz, member of the committee, said the construction of Tourism Information Center will serve the needs of the city's tourism industry.
The tourism center will also serve as the nerve center of the tourism industry and promote the city's historical and scenic spots.
